The United States Ambassador in Chile, Paul Simons, spoke on Thursday, October 22 at the inaugural session of the Annual Conference of the Association of American Schools in South America (AASSA), that took place at the Nido de Aguilas School in Santiago from October 22 until October 24.

The 2009 Conference focused on “Leadership from the Administration to the Classroom,” with a series of workshops and talks given by distinguished international education specialists who presented their vision and reviewed a range of issues such as methods and practical strategies to encourage and cultivate leadership in teachers in order to improve teaching methods and student learning.

The conference, which was supported by the Office of Educational Affairs of the Department of State, brought together approximately 400 educators, administrative staff, support staff and parents in the network of American schools in South America.
