U.S. Department of Defense Director of Cyber, Information Assurance, Mark Hall, spoke at Chile’s Academy on Political and Strategic Studies

Mr. Mark Hall, Director of Cyber, Information Assurance (IA) Policy and Strategy at the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense, gave a lecture in Santiago, Tuesday, October 27 at 6:30 p.m., at the National Academy on Political and Strategic Studies (ANEPE).

Mr. Hall, who is responsible for ensuring a secure U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) network architecture, spoke about the challenges to cyber security, its major threats, how the United States is addressing this threat, the specific capabilities and challenges for the DoD, and the international arena.

Mark Hall is also Director of the International Information Assurance Program (IIAP) for DoD. He is responsible for military Information Assurance outreach, policy and program development, and coordination with a variety of U.S. Government agencies and organizations. These outreach efforts ensures that DoD has appropriate Computer Network Defense contacts with foreign militaries around the world. Mr. Hall represents DoD interests in interagency forums to discuss cyber security issues and respond to a cyber event of national significance.

Prior to his current assignments in the Pentagon, Mr. Hall served 20 years supporting DoD’s Information Assurance mission in a variety of capacities. Previously, he was assigned to the White House Communications Agency.

Mark Hall holds a B.A. degree in International Relations from the University of Maryland, and received a Graduate Certificate from Johns Hopkins University in Telecommunications and Information Systems.
