U.S. Expert to Share Experiences on Workforce Development in Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy
Mr. Joseph Sarubbi, professor and executive director of TEC-SMART (Training and Education Center for Semiconductor Manufacturing and Alternative and Renewable Technologies) at Hudson Valley Community College, New York, visits Chile November 3 through 7 to participate in a program on workforce development in the energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors.
Mr. Sarubbi will give a lecture at an international seminar organized by Programa País Eficiencia Energética entitled “Technical and Higher Education in the Energy Efficiency Market” to be held on Thursday, November 5, at Hotel Manquehue (Esteban dell Orto 6615, Las Condes). The conference will be inaugurated by Minister of Energy Marcelo Tokman.
In addition, professor Sarubi will meet with Fundacion Chile, Center for Renewable Energies, National Innovation Council for Competitiveness, and InnovaChile executives; academics from INACAP and high-schools; and members of the Architects Association, and private sector representatives.
Joe Sarubbi has had more than 35 years of experience in education and the electrical construction and maintenance industry, and has garnered a national reputation for the design and delivery of renewable energy training programs. Next year, TEC-SMART will inaugurate state-of-the art classrooms and laboratories to train workers in semiconductor manufacturing and alternative energy technologies, including alternative fuels, photovoltaic, geothermal and wind energy. It will provide energy efficiency training for building trades and be a showcase for energy efficient technology and “green-build” techniques.
Mr. Sarubbi holds a Bachelor’s degree in Vocational Technical Education, a Master’s degree in Education Administration and Policy Studies, and he also earned his Journeyman Electrician Certificate through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. He has twice given expert testimony on Clean Energy education for the U. S. House of Representatives.
