Office of U.S. Naval Research Representative Gave a Lecture at University of Santiago’s Center for Development of Nanoscience

Kenneth E. Gonsalves, Associate Director for the Office of Naval Research (ONRG-Americas) at the U.S. Embassy in Chile gave a presentation on “Polymers in nanolithography and bionanotechnology" at University of Santiago’s (USACH) Center for the Development of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (CEDENNA), Wednesday, November 4, at 3:00 p.m.

Dr. Gonsalves visited the university's facilities and laboratories and will exchange information on nanoscience technology centers in the United States that could start collaborations and build future ties with USACH.

The Office of Naval Research (ONR) coordinates, executes, and promotes the science and technology programs of the United States Navy and Marine Corps through schools, universities, government laboratories, and nonprofit and for-profit organizations. It provides technical advice to the Chief of Naval Operations and the Secretary of the Navy and works with industry to improve technology manufacturing processes. The first international office was opened in 1946 in London and now serves as headquarters of ONR Global. It later opened satellite offices in Tokyo and Singapore. The opening of the Office of Naval Research’s Americas in Santiago in October 2002 provides the gateway for science and technological research from Mexico to Tierra del Fuego in South America, including Canada.
