Radio Program "Dimension Internacional": Education post "Pinguin Revolution"
October 16, 2009
AUDIO (in Spanish)
In 2006, Chile experienced the most important student demonstrations in recent history that forced the newly inaugurated government of President Michelle Bachelet to include a more serious focus on education in her government agenda. These demonstrations were informally known as the Revolution of the Pinguins due to the uniform used by students in Chile.
In this program, we talked about what has happened with education in Chile since 2006 from the perspective of two former Pinguin leaders, who today go to university. Our guests are Karina Delfino, a student leader in 2006 at the Liceo 1 Javiera Carrera, who today studies sociology at the Catholic University, and Julio Isamit, who in 2006 was student leader at the National Institute and today studies Law at the Catholic University.
