Public Services
Notary Services
If you need a notary service for documents such as powers of attorney and sworn statements, please keep in mind that the name on the document to be notarized should be the same as on your identification. You must come in person. A passport, driver's license or a Chilean identification card is acceptable evidence of identity. The notary service fee is $30 for first service (seal) and $20 for each additional seal provided at the same time in connection with the same transaction.
Note: A consular official does not have the authority to authenticate any U.S. issued documents. Any U.S. issued document for official use in Chile must be authenticated by the Chilean Embassy or Consulate in the United States.
True Copies
Certifications of true copies of a public or private document costs $30 for the first certification and $20 for additional certified copies. The fee for photocopies is $1 per page. The original document must be submitted at the time this service is requested.
Authentications
If you need to authenticate a Chilean birth, death, or police certificate, complete the prior authentication process ("legalizaciones") at the Chilean Ministries of Justice (Moneda 1342, Santiago) and Foreign Affairs (Bandera 52, Santiago) before visiting the Consular Section. The fee for such a service is US$30 per document.
The above services are available during walk-in hours. Consular fees may paid in cash (dollars/pesos) or credit card. No checks are accepted.
